About the program
The Yaebo Players is open to students who have completed 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this past school year (already or turning 15 by Sept. 1st, 2023). They rehearse Monday-Friday. The emphasis of the group is on refining skills of performance. We would like each student to not only grow as an individual, but also develop their understanding of ensemble work.
The Yaebo Players will proudly present the hilarious and dance filled musical The Little Mermaid. This is the classic Disney musical with great songs and colorful characters.
Auditions
Auditions will be held at Cambridge Middle School on Monday, June 12th starting at 8:00. All participants are asked to be there the entire 4 hour timeframe. Auditions will consist of a prepared solo (usually about one verse), and a cold reading (or multiple readings) from the show. We generally prefer to hear songs from the show, but any song will be fine. After the individual solo, you may be asked to prepare a different song from the musical, so we can hear different things. A pianist will be provided but know that he/she may not be able to sight read a piece for you that isn’t from the show.
As usual, copies of the songs can be obtained by contacting Mr. Knudsvig. If you are singing a song from a different source, please provide sheet music for the pianist.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals for this group will be from 8:00am -12:00pm Monday through Thursday as well as 9:00am -3:00pm on Fridays (with a few exceptions). Rehearsals for June and part of July will be at Cambridge Middle School A typical rehearsal would include one to two hours of music rehearsal and the rest spent on choreography and staging.
Body Electric
The tradition of “I Sing the Body Electric” will continue this year and all performers are expected to be at the performances for the middle school production to be a part of this unifying song. For those unfamiliar, this is an annual song that we perform with all the high school and middle school performers to unify the program.
Registration will be open until May 5th or until the program is full.
